Check whether you could get spare optical unit of the transport. It is uses one of the versions of the Philips CDM4. If there is no possible to buy new OPU, sooner or later, you could throw away the transport.
Meridian 602 transp./606 DAC combo...advice

I've recently been given an opportunity to buy a Meridian 602/606 combination for $1,200. At the time of release for this player/DAC combo, it was state of the art reference equipment. I'm wondering, though, would 1,200 be better spent on something that is newer - with newer technology, or has this combo stood the test of time...
