Meridian 508.20/24 and the new 507

Hi

I started a thread a few days ago regarding a new "budget" cdp.

There was some good answers I guess.

I'll still go for the best deal, but I noticed that Meridian 507 are sold quite cheap compared to the older 508.24

I need big smooth sound, not thin and analythic, but I wonder why these 507 are sold that cheap. Any comments???

I had a 508.20 for a while and compared with 507. 508 has better bass, nore body and very smooth sound. 507 is thin and forward sounding, also could not stand the noise from the rom drive based transport. Now I've a Wadia 301 with GNSC reference mod.
