Meridian 206 cd player

I absolutely love this player, but it is starting to have mechanical issues. To send it to Meridian for new laser and fix the drawer would cost approx. $500. Is this worth fixing, or is there a cd player for under $1000 new that could replace this? Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
