Maybe I've not shopped for speakers recently enough, but I'd be a little surprised if small two-way monitors sounded like a BIG BARGAIN at 7k + 1k for stands.
OTOH, that hard bound owner's manual couldn't be cheap ;)
With floor standing speakers getting slimmer and slimmer, I question why anyone would buy a pair of monitors and stands.  It has to be a compromise and bass is usually pretty anemic.
I had a number of stand mount speakers, but in the end I agree with @stereo5 that a floor standing speaker is really the way to go. The footprint on a stand mount is the same so why not have a full range speaker.

My end game speaker (I think) is my current speaker, the ProAc d-40r. I might do another upgrade, but they are so good, particularly the ribbon tweeter,  it would have to be a huge upward move.

You can probably find a used pair in the price range you are shopping.

Good luck with your search.
On the other hand, some rooms are tailor made for great monitors and a sub. Anyone who has ever worked with speaker placement to maximize bass response will also likely be forced to admit that that was probably not the exact same placement to achieve best soundstage and imaging. Everything we do in the this hobby is about minimizing and living with compromises. Good results take work.
