Mark Isham, Many Chinas on Vapor Drawings

I have not found another that equals.

Suggestions please.

As to my tastes; others would include:
Shadowfax - Dreams of Children
Michael Hedges - Aerial Boundaries

System: brutally honest, detailed, neutral w/ an expansive soundstage.
That's a fine album that I don't think Isham has quite equalled with subsequent soundtracks & CDs-- though Blue Sun is pretty good.

There are some lyrical instrumental atmospheres on Eno's "Apollo" and perhaps on Daniel Lanois's "Belladonna" that get pretty close that feeling without lapsing into New Age as Isham sometimes does. Kitaro is in a similar vein.
Thanks Dgarretson, I will check out Blue Sun and the others!
