Mapleshade AC cord replacement kit: opinions?

Hi
Have anybody tried one of these?I have an old CJ MF 200 with a captive cord and i am looking to replace it.
Mapleshade advertises these cords as "no soldering needed"
Do you just cut and twist the wires or what? How reliable is this in a way of fire hazard or electroshock possibility?
Does it make any sound difference? Thanks for your replies.

The replacement kit is two butt connectors that you crimp.
The connector has a plastic outer jacket that isolates quite well.
I have the same cable on a CD / DVD player.
It was a solid improvement when included with the triple points and heavy hats.
These are inexpensive tweaks that provide major improvements.
