Magnepan wire upgrade

I UNDERSTAND THERE IS A WIRE ON THE MAGGIES BEHIND THE PLATE WHERE YOU ATTACH YOUR SPEAKERS. THIS WIRE CAN BE UP GRADED TO IMPROVE THE SOUND OF THE SPEAKERS .

I had my MG 3.5/R completely rewired by Magnepan, internally, with Discovery hook-up cable. The improvements were substantial. I also replaced the caps with MIT/Solen capacitors both internally and in the external x-over. This modified speaker is markedly more transparent, smoother, robust and dynamic than the stock version. I don't plan on selling my maggies in the foreseeable future.
As a former Magnepan owner I can tell you that there is quite a bit of wiring along with crossover part improvements that will take these speaekers to a whole new level. It't the removal of those damn "socks" that's such a pain in the ass. I can also tell you that you will probably REDUCE their resale value if you do any mods to them what so ever, even if you improve their sound. Good luck.
I would contact Magnapan to get more info (especially, if the speakers are still under warrantee!) Personally, this is the LAST thing that I would consider doing, out of many options, to tweak the sound in your system. Many people report sonic improvements by rigging an anchoring rod or support device from the wall to thhe top edge of the speaker. Happy Tunes!
