Analog or Digital Preamp and/or AMP?
After many many years, I’m 70, I believe Analog: Tube Preamp and Tube Amps, LP’s and Reel to Reel tape sound best,
I think, as simply as I can sum it up, because analog gets both the fundamentals and the overtones correctly, whereas Digital ...
So, even though SS measures ’better’, even though tape, even prior to Dolby or DBX, has some noise, it is always preferred by me and anyone who hears my system.
Your ’timing’ issue may be related. And, you may be more sensitive to this than others.
Example: I designed office space for a living, and theory says people could not detect the flicker of fluorescent lighting. I learned over the years, especially desiginging custom lighting for the large editorial department at Fortune Magazine, that some people are sensitive, slightly or a lot in fact, while the majority are totally unaware of flicker.
