Having a wife that's mental is enough for me, I think I'll just stick to normal speakers. |
Take a look at the Aerial 5T in black. Don't need a stand, can be placed 2 inches from wall, and sound great. |
Aerial 5T don't seem to have a brushed metal cabinetl; high gloss Rosenut, Nero metallic black, high gloss Ebony seem to be finishes.
|
YG Acoustics does that. Not cheap though. |
Doesn't look like YG Acoustics makes a bookshelf speaker though |
Perhaps you can find a used pair of Jern Audio 14ds. |
Metal speakers, Genelec 8040. |
|
See the thread on VCB above. |
Genelec look to be active. Jern Audio looks interesting but I wonder if you can get the same brushed look with cast iron which you can in the magico and krell which are aluminum. I think this is what naim uses for the uniti atom. Dynaudio I can't tell if they're even metal as come in wood finish or painted black it looks like.

A/D/S 200's available now on eBay for "Buy it now" price of $160 + $30 shipping. An excellent small metal cabinet speaker that easily sounds as good as the more costly others listed above! Black finish, too! |
@ebm What’s a typo? (As in your misspelled word, "whats") |
I might check out the Gallo Strata II’s. They like being close to walls. Set properly they will image like nobody’s business. The CDT tweeter is one of my favorites. They are spec’d to 65 hz, but I think that’s generous. Would pair very nicely with a Rel t5i or t7i sub. Even with a good sub you’d be around $3k. |
Buy the bookshelf speaker of your choosing, then apply your desired aesthetic finish to them. |
Heard Magico's raising the price of the A1's $1200 more to $8600 at the end of the month just an FYI. There an excellent speaker. |
Ugh, mental, I mean metal speakers...why? Wood, wood wood......metal is for an automobile....I guess if you want to look at a phone booth in your living room, I prefer a furniture look. |
Mental speakers are ones that drive you crazy LOL |

Looks like you're either goth or into "heavy mental". But perhaps that's just being sentimental. |
Aren't the "mental" speakers the ones kenjit designed?
