Linn Unidisk 1.1 vs Meridian G98AH for video+CDs

Has anyone compared the Linn Unidisk 1.1 vs Meridian G98AH
for video quality as well as first rate redbook performance?

I am looking for the best universal player that will
also be worthy as a Redbook source in a highend system.
I heard a used Ikemi I really like as a Redbook player
but I was hoping to find a 1-box solution that will
satisfy both needs.

Thanks...

I owned a 1.1 and listed to the G98 several times.

If you like the Ikemi/Linn sound go for the 1.1. The video performance is excellent on both units but if you are after the Linn sound you won't find it with the Meridian.

The 1.1 is the most analog sounding disk player I've ever owned. They are kwirky however and do have the occasional glitch but it sounds great. Get a later production unit and you should be good to go.

I still miss the 1.1 to be honest.
Well The cheapest Linn Unidisk 1.1 was $4500 here on
Audiogon so I just bought a Meridian G98AH to try out.
Thanks Pharrar for the great deal!!

I have a Krell DVD Showcase that I will do a shoot-out
with. Loser will be sent to the bedroom system to replace
a lowly Denon DVD-2930CI which is no longer worthy..

Jim_swantko: Which player has best color saturation
and image depth? The Unidisk 1.1 or G98?? And how would
you describe the difference in RedBook performance?
I may just try a Unidisk 1.1 if I ever see one for $3000
used..
