Lii Audio S-10 Users

Curious to know how members are liking there S-10 speakers or the order model previously.  I see Decware Steve Deckert recommends using these with his amps and I was wondering has anyone used it with a different amp?  Sound quality?  I was thinking of trying this and paring it with a Integrated LUXMAN L-550AXII which I think would sound sweet and warm.  I heard once user say the speaker falls apart and cheaply made.  Website says the speakers weigh 125lbs and comes in crate.  Is it possible the speaker weighs less than that?

I was thinking along very similar lines not so long ago. I'm terribly curious about single-driver speakers.  Eventually decided not to get them, due to their size.  They're just too big for my space.

Be interesting to hear from people who do own them, though.

@trentmemphis , I don't think many people own them. At 47"x24"×20" /120lbs those are some heavy speakers. I would like to get them and try it, better think into consideration if they are not for me to take a 70% lost and to break my back loading them out. Maybe they are not 120lbs and only 50lbs of a hollow box.  1yr warranty on material seems they might not be that great of quality.

For some reason, I had the idea the speakers themselves aren’t that heavy. I could be completely wrong. But the issue I had was more about the volume of space they occupy than their weight, and I have a bad back, so weight is a thing I always check on components.

Very true about the resale value, I imagine.

Net weight or shipping weight?  As you mention they come in a crate, or two crates, the crate probably weighs more than the speaker itself.

Get creative!!!!! Just buy the drivers ($1200 plus shipping) and then make an open baffle speaker for them. One foot wide.....four feet high.....with one and a half foot wings going back on each side angled slightly out. Mount the driver 2/3rds the way or so up the baffle and sit back and blow your mind. I would use at least two layers of three quarter inch 13 ply birch ply with green glue in between....even better a third layer of highly refined MDF in the middle. Paint, sculpt, finish the baffles any way that pleases you. Will sound much better than the speaker in a box. You will get flat to 40hz in room with such a baffle. Without wings....maybe 100 hz....you need the wings for real bass. You can add a supertweeter on top......

I have a friend who has done this but is using 2 foot wide baffle and one foot wings.....2 feet it too big for most people......that is why I suggest one foot wide but longer wings. He has a shelf on top that has the ESS AMT crossed over at 12K with a copper foil cap for even better sound. He is hardwiring directly to the voice coil wire with his speaker wire.....super, super sound. They need at least 100 hours of hard playing to really open up.

You could also mount the speakers on a one foot square baffle and mount it on top of a box with woofers underneath......you let the full range run wide open....probably will roll of at 250hz on a baffle that size and xover the woofs underneath to match......you will get more explosive bass this way.....with all the openess of open baffle. What are you waiting for?.....have some fun....now....and now and now.....choose love and joy each moment....blessings
