last fm on squeezebox

I just opened a last fm account. Heard it might be preferred to Pandora. I can access my account on last fm, including with an Itouch. I get an error 403 message when I attempt to log on in with my Squeeezebox. I have not purchased the $3 membership; I live in the USA.

Is this a ridiculously embarrassing new user error?
