Krell KSA 50 (fan?) noise?

Hi there. I have a wonderful Krell ksa 50 on loan. I love its sound but is it possible that I hear quite clearly a noise coming from the amplfier? I know fans are supposed to be noisy, but that much? Thanks. Maurizio. Italy

Also, fans are super cheap, and thanks to the PC industry, a lot of them are a lot quieter.

While you may be able to service it, you may also wish to just buy new. Make sure you match voltage and cubic feet per minute (CFM), then try to find the quietest one you can.

If you can, upgrade the temperature rating. The higher the rating, the longer the operating life at a given temp.

Nichicon is the go-to brand for the big power supply caps. Replace distributed, smaller isolating power caps with Panasonic FM where there are equivalents. These are usually in the 10-100uF range.

They do wear out. :) And they are simple to replace. It is probably time to open up that amp, and clean it out of dust, replace the fan, and maybe the main power caps too.
