Krell KAS2

Hello Folks:

Typically I have not been a Krell fan, however, I have heard these monoblocks for the first time this week and I was very impressed. In the demo system they seemed a bit more "organic" and less "metallic" than the FPB amps that I have heard in the past. The speakers, I am pleased to report, were the Thiel CS5I's which, with the exception of the 7.2's, is the finest Thiel I have ever heard.

I would appreciate hearing any opinions from Krell experts about how the KAS2's compare sonically with what Krell is making now or in the past.

Thanks as always.

I would agree with you assessment. Though I am not a huge Krell fan, I've always thought their best work was in the very early 90's. I thought their KAS and KSA 150/250 were some of the best amps they've ever made.
I found that the FPB series, though a bit more transparent, lost that 'organic' musicality that I prefer.

The quest for more transparency has been the downfall of many designers though, not just Krell, IMHO.
