Kind Of Blue Records

I thought I'd pass along a cluster of good recordings. I got a couple of cds on the Kind-Of-Blue label over the holidays. The music - at least on the cds I got - is really good and the recording quality is some of the best I own. The Classical Jazz Quartet, Play Tchaikovsky which features Kenny Baron, Lewis Nash, Ron Carter and Stephon Harris, manages to take classic themes like Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies and make them swing without sounding contrived or corney. Marco Pereira's Essence has some great guitar work and is a terrificly recorded acoustic guitar.

The recordings are very natural sounding, without the overcooked highs that you get on a lot of cds. Really nicely done. Pianos sound stunningly good.

Like any collection of records, not everything is my cup of tea, but I am looking forward to checking out other titles by this label.
