I'm using the Monocle XL with Thiel and Bryston and love them a lot. That said, I haven't had the chance to compare them with the 8TC so I really can't say whether they are a significant step up (other than in price, alas). I'm also using the Homegrown KGAC-clone-esque ICs throughout and have been quite pleased whith the whole setup. Yes, this is more of a "here, here" than a spot of advise, but there it is.
