John Prine

From The Wall Street Journal a few minutes ago comes this news:

"John Prine has been hospitalized with Covid-19 symptoms and is in critical condition, his family said in a statement posted to the country folk icon’s Twitter account.

The 73-year-old singer-songwriter was taken to the hospital Thursday after a “sudden onset” of unspecified symptoms, according to the statement, and was intubated Saturday night.

He “continues to receive care, but his situation is critical,” according to the statement. Mr. Prine’s wife and manager, Fiona Whelan Prine, was diagnosed with the novel coronavirus earlier this month, and the couple had been self-quarantining and isolated from one another, according to her social media.

Mr. Prine, a staple of Americana, known for his humorous country music as well as songs of protest and social commentary, was given a lifetime achievement award this year by the Recording Academy, the body that hands out the Grammys."

I’m listening to "Murder Most Foul" as I read this, and I’m feeling that it’s just about all over. Good luck, you younger fellas. If you let You Tube dictate what follows ’MMF", "Sad Eyed Lady Of The Lowlands" will follow immediately. If you’re not a complete fool (and gauging by the reaction to "MMF", there are a fair number of you amongst us), you will wish you had been born sooner.
John prine is one of the best singer song writers in my time, certainly better than dulan (dylan).
Mr. Prine is on a ventilator and is  unlikely to survive. Such a  great talent.
My apologies. My above post is not current. Other posts state that he's out of ICU.
“....'cause I'm gonna have a cocktail: vodka and ginger ale....yeah, I'm gonna smoke a cigarette that's nine miles long....I'm gonna kiss that pretty girl on the tilt-a-whirl....yeah, this old man is goin' to town....” - John Prine

I hope he’s having that cocktail and cigarette.  RIP
RIP John.... this lyric sums it up for me...

Ya' know that old trees just grow stronger
And old rivers grow wilder ev'ry day
