On another note I want to alert you to the fact that Dueland is coming out with a Western Electric replica WE16ga with some improvements based on communications between Jeff Day and the owner of Dueland who became interested in manufacturing this wire, stranded tin copper as well as some other stuff based on Day's suggestions. thanks for checking out my YouTube page. Your right, it is very satisfying to to create with no agenda. No reason to create other than the desire to do it. Deeply satisfying. I remember recording the acoustic guitar parts for the 2nd movement of "symphony for guitars". It was around 11pm on a hot night similar to how it feels tonight. Hot and humid. All the lights are off and it's me and my guitar and recording equipment. Nothing else in the world exists in the world at that moment. No other way to describe it other than a series of spiritual moments. I also like to compose very early in the morning like 4-5am before going to work. I make coffee and start work and once again the whole world goes away and it would be just me and my musical ideas. There is nothing so completely satisfying that I have ever done.

Charles, thank you. That means a lot. Honestly I think why bother when I listen to the music by great artists but I simply love music and feel the need to compose regardless of the result.

I added another piece in YouTube called "symphony blue" (1st movement). I would describe it as Bela Bartok meets Led Zepplin or what Bela Bartok might have sounded like if he played a Les Paul thru a Marshall stack :) it's one of the most intense pieces I've written and is a pretty big contrast to the other two pieces "Harriman Aire" and "Symphony for Guitars". Hi Charles. I listen to a lot of jazz, classical, rock and pop music. But I don't actively play jazz. In this recording I recognize some jazz elements and jazz harmonies and the music has a swingy a type of feel. It seems a hybrid between various styles. Regards Jet

Yes I detected a jazz like influence that's why I wondered if you might in the future incorporate some jazz chords. Just reflecting my own musical biases I suppose 😊.

Oh I understand your question :) in my music there are usually a fair amount of chords that one could consider jazz sounding chords. The question that comes to mind is, does the chords and the progression sound like a progression one might hear in a jazz piece? In my music the awnser is usually no, the jazzy chords and chord progressions in my stuff don't seem to function like the ones you might hear in jazz compositions. I don't think it's a conscious decision and I have actually not thought about that before, but I think my musical brain for better or worse has its own ideas about how harmony functions and that governs why these jazz chords sound the way they do. Kinda like Steely Dan or Pat Methaney, they use a lot of jazzy chords, but the chord progressions in thier music don't nessesarily sound like traditional jazz music.

I completely understand your point, you have to be "you" wherever that may lead you musically . It’s funny that you mentioned Pat Methaney as an example. When I was listening I thought to myself, this has a Methaney vibe or sound.

Charles, the guitar is by Manuel Rodriguez. It does have a sweet rich tone. I like it’s low end. Clean and punchy. It records really well. Glad you liked the music.I haven’t been able to visit AGON and post as much as I used to, but I still do a lot of music listening on my system. It’s remained unchanged for over three years. It brings a lot of music satisfaction.
