JBL ES20 vs. Polk Audio TSi100

Hello Everybody.

I'm thinking about buying a new pair of bookshelf speakers, around $150-250. What I'm considering are these two:

1. JBL ES20BK
2. Polk Audio TSi100

Which one do you think is better? I usually listen to all kinds of popular music (rock, pop, r&b/soul, hip-hop, electronica, jazz....), but I'm not a big fan of classical music.

Also, I'm using Sony SS-B3000 bookshelf speakers now (I know, but I cannot spend much money on my audio system right now...). If I replace it with those speakers above, will it be upgrade, or just the same cheap bookshelf speakers?

Thank you.

Without knowing what you are using for an amp or receiver, it is hard to give you a definite recommendation. Of the two that you listed, I would go with the Polks. I find that Polks do a good job across the board within their price range and if you look around you can score a pair of the TSi100 for under $200/ per pair.

If you can nudge your budget to $300, there are two excellent speakers that I have owned and used that would do a good job with your musical tastes:

Energy RC 10

Ascend Acoustics CBM 170 .
