It's the Room, Stupid
Great article in the Wall Street Journal today related to great recording sites. I think it reinforces the idea that your listening room should get 90% of your attention and bucks. Ah, if we could bring back Columbia's 30th Street Studio. I had the joy of a visit there during a recording session when I worked for CBS. Al Schmitt quoted in the article "the best equipment in the world can't overcome a rooom that has no life in it". Never better said.

We all need someone to look down on and ridicule - the audiophile that provides a vital psycho-acoustic role in society. Clearly, audiophiles also need rooms well padded with foam. |
