Is this paradigm speaker too expensive?

Hi yall, I almost set my mind on a paradigm reference studio 60's v2 pair. Unfortunately, the price of the dealers does not correspond totally to my expectation! The price listing was $1600 for the pair. Even though I love these speakers, I was wondering why are there so many people that bought it for almost $1000. Can someone help me to check if the price is reasonable or if the product is different that it should have been. Meanwhile, if you are selling some paradigm speakers, please let me know. Thanks

Here's 2 straight up and honest cats who are a pleasure to deal with and know the Paradigm line intimately, 1) Steve at SoundsDeluxe --(630) 305-9955 -soundsdeluxe.com [5 star dude] 2) Jeff at HawkEye Audio -- (319) 337-4878 - hawkeyeaudio.com [also 5 star] you might want to check with these guys before you buy, as I bought trade in's and new from them at considerable savings! hope that helps sober1
TROUBIET...I HAVE A GREAT IDEA. BEFORE YOU WONDER IF A DEALER IS CHARGING TOO MUCH, LET'S FIND OUT WHAT IT COST HIM. SINCE DIFFERENT COMPONETS HAVE DIFFERENT MARK-UPS WE NEED TO KNOW. SPEAKERS CHARACTERISTLY CARRY THE HIGHEST MARK UP IN RETAIL SALES. YOU CAN USUALLY GO STRAIGHT TO THE MANUFACTURER AND PURCHASE SAVING A HEFTY SUM INCLUDING TAX, IF IT IS AN OUT-OF-STATE PURCHASE. NOT ALL MANUFACTURERS WILL DO THIS BECAUSE THEY GIVE DEALERS THAT PERFORM TERRITORIAL RIGHTS FOR SELLING THEIR PRODUCTS, BUT INTERNET TRADING HAS MADE THIS MORE DIFFICULT TO ENFORCE. GO TO WWW.COSTSHEETS.COM AND SUPPLY THE REQUIRED INFORMATION ON THE PARTICULAR BRAND AND ITEM YOU ARE LOOKING FOR. FACTOR FREIGHT FROM THE MANUFACTURER TO THE RETAILER AND FIGURE COMMISION IF YOU ARE WORKING WITH A SALESMAN (THOSE GUYS HAVE TO EAT TOO). THIS IS WHAT THE COST IS TO THE RETAILER IF YOU PAY CASH, CREDIT CARDS INCREASE A RETAILERS COST BY AS MUCH AS 4.5% OF THE TRANSACTION AMOUNT. IT IS NOT UNCOMMON FOR RETAILERS TO SHOOT FOR A MARK UP OF 35%-40% AFTER ALL EXPENSES ON SPEAKERS.HIGHER VOLUME DEALERS CAN GIVE A LITTLE BETTER PRICE USUALLY RELATED TO SPIFFS FROM THE MANUFACTURER AND HIGHER VOLUME, IN ADDITION IT ALSO GIVES A QUICKER TURN AROUND ON CASH. MANUFACTURERS WILL ALSO GIVE EXTENDED CREDIT LINES WITH AS MUCH AS 6 MONTHS TO PAY FOR THEIR GOOD VOLUME RETAILERS. SOME RETAILERS WILL GIVE YOU A BREAK ON SHIPPING BY GETTING THE MANUFACTURER TO DROPSHIP COMPONENTS DIRECTLY TO YOUR ADDRESS, WITH THEM AS THE MIDDLE-MAN OR "JOBBER". TRY WORKING OUT THE FORMULAS AND DEAL WITH THE STORE OWNER/MANAGER WHEN YOU CAN AND PAY CASH INSISTING ON A DISCOUNT FOR THE TRANSACTION.
Point of reference....I'm looking at a brand new set of Studio 60's in Blask Ash. My dealer here in Canada is quoting $1171 CAN. This translates to approximately $800 USD. No more ALL CAPS please!
I cannot believe it!!! from Canada to the US, it s the double. Even though, I ask for a Cherry Veneer finish, the difference is still a lot to pay. I know that Paradigm wont sell their speakers online which "sucks" (sorry for this language) for me. The Studio Reference Studio 60's costs $1600 in most retailer i check in the Atlanta Region. If someone find better, please let me know. Otherwise, If someone know a trick to buy in Canada and export it to the US you are welcome. Thanks, Yannick
A lot of audio stuff has a higher price in the US than the rest of the world. I think they know we have the bucks and will pay.
SUGARBRIE YOU HAVE THE TRADE DEFICIT TO THANK FOR THAT. IMPORT TAXES AND WHAT IS CALLED "FAIR TRADE" AGAINST AMERICAN CONSUMER GOODS.WHY DO YOU THINK ALL THESE GUYS IN THE MILATARY BUY AT THE PX? THEY ARE EXEMPT FROM IMPORT REGULATION.
Still, I believe it s allowed to purchased one product from Canada and to make it shipped to the US? Correct? If I know someone that can buy the product in Canada and have it shipped to me, this should fixed this problem and I would have a much better value. Thanks
