Unless its defective or modified the Denon POA 2400 was a pleasant sounding amplifier with the typical Denon house sound. It easily capable to drive your Maggies.

This amp is rated at 400w RMS into a 4 ohm load (Maggie 1.7)-I know the load is reactive-
