Interconnect with great dynamics and bass slam ,

I recently purchased some Cardas Golden cross sepaker cables. They replaced my Dh Lab Q10s. I replaced the Q10s because i was getting some upper mid freq brightness.
I have Golden Cross interconnects from preamp to amp and from cd player to pre amp. The sound is very smooth and detailed .The bass and mid bass is not as authorative or as tight. The highs are better - more detailed and smooth.
The problem is the sound is almost too smooth the bass is kind of rounded off now .The sound is less dynamic.
My Question is.
Is there an interconnect that could give me back that great bass and dynamics of that i had with the Q10s, without the harshness i was getting. I think i would like to keep the Golden Cross speaker cables and try changing the ICs. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

@ Grey9hound,, Wow!, Go for it Dennis!, I hope you get that speaker cable!,I want you to get them more than you want them!,, caution!, very addictive they are!, Happy listening!
The Air 1 are able to convey some emotional type 3d music info in my system. The timing and pace is perfect. You'll love them!
@ Grey9hound,,, so, what happened to the buy of the Taralabs Air 1 speaker cables?, like I said, offer $ 50.00 more, you should bring them home!,, Good Luck!, cheers!
Hey Keith, thanks alot man, I love these things! I can tell that you are really enjoying your Ayon also. This type of sound is addictive!!! I've been downloading some new tunes(Tame Impala, Iron & Wine, James Hunter Six) listening to some old vinyl(Leon Russell "Stop All That Jazz", Commander Cody and His Lost Planet Airmen "Lost in the Ozone" to name a few)and enjoying some cold Budlights too buddy. I haven't left the listening room yet this weekend. There's a full bath down here and it's still cold enough up here on the mountain to leave the beer outside the sliding door, so no need to go anywhere LOL!

Hey Dennis, did you get those Air 1 speaker cables dude?!?
Hey Congrats Dennis! I'm sure you will let us know what you think about the Tara Labs Air 1. You'll notice the quality immediately and the sound is awesome at first listen. But, as they adapt to your setup and burn in after about a week of normal listening, then they really start to make magic!

Yes! A toast to Dennis, good cables are amazing! here here...

Also a toast to Audiolabyrinth on his 56th B-Day LOL!!!
@ Grey9hound, I hope you like your Tara cable enough that you save up to buy another one for the bottom post of your speakers, then you will have all the sound of that cable,, two pairs of the Taralabs Air 1 speaker cables would be the answer to it all, you can bi-amp away and have a excellent sound!,, Dennis, when do you get your cable?,,, cheers!
@Audiolabyrinth
I hope i'll get it by the end of the week .
BTW , I am shipping your thing today.
@ Grey9hound,, Thankyou!, you are over the top cool!, you should talk at all of us on the other thread when you have time!, your cable will have to re-break-in, It will sound nicely on your system!, you will see!,, oh, how old are you?, waxwaves admitted to 37, this past march, he may be the pup between all of us?,, cheers!
Ok Keith I was just pokin at ya with the 57 joke! Hope you had a fun time on your B Day buddy.

I think Dennis would be better off with a McCormack DNA 1 Deluxe and some Tara Labs jumpers!!!! How bout it? Thoughts? Can we spend his money for him? Diving boards are dangerous...causes insurance premium to go way up too! Money better spent on audio gear and music IMO! Hehe

Guess I the baby of our thread over there. Really enjoy all you fellows!
@ Grey9hound,, what are you talking about, Its hard to deny being old at 46!,LOL!,, well, It seems waxwaves made pup status of all of us, he 37!, I came in second place, LOL!, john and Jerry are in there 50s as well, I believe you may have came in 3rd!, I believe pops,Jerry,, is the oldest of us all!,LOL!, he acts younger!, cool!
@ Grey9hound, Hey, If you like this cable you are getting, are you going to try and get another pair, so you will have the total Tara sound for your rig??,,May be hard to get another 10' pair used, I would put the 10' on the woofers, and a 8' on the top!,, cheers!
@ waxwaves,,, Ha,Ha,Ha!,, Dude, you made me pop a top on a Budice and laugh out of my chair!,, you are a nut!, thats way cool for me, hell, the wife cant make me laugh the way you do!, the context you put things is over the top!I understand about the diving board,I do not know if Dennis will take to kindly of us spending his money on his system,Ha!, when he decides to get an amp,and he wants our opinion, we can all shoot him some ideas! He already knows I would like him to use his speaker cables with jumpers, He can with another amp, He told me not this amp he has now!,so, I respect his wishes!, the only way he can get that full tara sound like you have,, Is to run two pairs of the Air 1 speaker cables with his current amp!,, Lets see if he likes the cable first,, LOL!, then waxwaves I will unleash you to spend his money,LOL!,, BTW,,here is something I want the both of you to look at,, It reminds me how a Krell 700cx will keep going!,,Bing or goggle this,, now its a audiogon thread!,, Does your Equipment keep going.....,,, this should make you guys laugh!,, Hit the video, and watch the video in its entirity!, then tell me your thoughts, Ha,Ha,Ha!,,,,,,cheers!
Well Waxwaves, That diving board may have to wait after all.
Found out that my 2004 Kawasaki Vulcan 2000 has a dead Power Commander .Thats 300 bucks. I would just not worry about it , BUT the guy that had the bike before me added Vance and Hines Exhaust and K&N Air filter. This allows for much more air flow , but because of that you have to add more fuel, the reason for needing the Power Commander.
Right now since it is dead , i am running way too lean. The bike wants to jerk when you let off the gas and when you put it on because its too lean (not enough fuel in the mix). Just ordered one of those . OUCH
Daughter has to have her wisdom teeth cut out .
Damn there goes a thousand after insurance.
Kids are expensive .
She is in college too. One more year and she Graduates .
Hopefully she graduates !!
Damn Grey9hound!, You have alot of exspenses!, your daughter is lucky you take care of her!, My mom said, you are grown, go into the world and make something of your self!, I was 18 years old when that happened, been on my on ever since!, I do not have kids!, the wife does!, her kids live with her grandma currently!, never lived with us!,yipeee!,, still in all, I have done without alot to get my audio!, Iresponsible!, maybe!, My system comes before everything!, period!, thats my priority!, not everyone can do that!, you will get it all together,I believe in you Dennis, whole heartly!,, cheers!

I have done without alot to get my audio!, Iresponsible!, maybe!, My system comes before everything!, period!, thats my priority!, not everyone can do that!

That was me for a lot of years Keith! That's how I would up with a system that listed for well over $100K (~$115K). Life has a way of throwing you curveballs that force you to reconsider your priorities. At least it did for me it did. Something about a major health scare and a loss of income within a two year period has a way to make a man reconsider his priorities in life. :)
@ jmcgrogan2, I agree!, Thats why I am hoping over the next 3 years I may get all the way done building 2 systems!, then, who cares whats better, when you get to this level of performance!, I want to ride out into the sunset with what I am tring to build here!,, cheers!
Guys, I am now 74 and really need to know one piece of information, when will I die. Lacking that, I am doing what I have know older guys to have done, namely having no patience with waiting for anything. I'm sure that had I been threatened by my health or income loss, I would behave differently. But I haven't, so all ahead full.
@Audiolab, satisfied??? Riding off into the sunset??? That's not so easy my friend, this disease goes much deeper than you think. The hunger NEVER ends......just ask Norm (Tbg). LOL!!

Better strap yourself in for the next few decades!! I find that even when I am perfectly happy with the sound of my system, I still peruse the for sale ads....it NEVER ends!!

As I sit here and type this right now, I'm trying to figure out how to NOT buy something that I REALLY want, but which would be financially irresponsible. LOL!!
@Jmcgrogan you are pulling me into your madness LOL!!! you have gotten me all fired up on cartridges, but I should probably upgrade the tonearm first....damn! Next the cartridge, then the phono preamp...damn!!! By then it will be time for a new preamp!!! Next, big time amps!!! DAMN!!! And then some speakers!!! Then it will be time for another cartridge....man....then a new cable, oh wait I haven't gone for my lungs yet on power cables - that will become an obsession at some point!!! And by this time with everything new and different some technology will come out that is a necessity!!!Damn!

So you see, as Jmcgrogan says it really is never over...whew! I need a cigarette!

Or, you could just move your speakers around and get a whole new sound for free :0) ....Naaah!
@ Tbg, I am with you my friend!, Live to the fullest!, you have my utmost respect!, 74, Thats off the chain cool!, Go TbG!,,, cheers!
@ jmcgrogan2,, Which would be financially iresposible? LOL!, Do not ask me, I am the worst!, Disease?,mmmm Yep!, The thing is, this takes alot of money!, I may or may not have in the future!, Ride off in the sunset!, sounds good thou!, don't you think?,,,cheers!
@ pops, I believe I have found a dear friend that has this audio madness as bad as I do!,LOL!,, I may be a little old school!, If I build a system that is far beyound better than what most audiophiles can only dream about, Then I believe It will still sound very good compaired to newer technology of tomorrow!, Ride off into the sunset!,,, cheers!

Ride off in the sunset!, sounds good thou!

Sounds very good indeed! It's MUCH easier said then done though. Read this thread that I posted less than 3 years ago, as I rode off into the sunset. That hiatus lasted just over 2 years. This disease has a way of clawing it's way out of remission. LOL!!
Damn John, What the hell happened to you back then?, I read the ole thread, I was deeply touched for real!,God Bless You!, Man, please bare with me and my over the top crazyness!, Remember,I am new here on the gon!, excited over the truth I am!,, cheers!
Man-o-man, I thought I had it bad wanting audio, all of you have me beat, I am convinced!,, Happy listening!
I was diagnosed with CHF (Congestive Heart Failure) in 2009, and then in 2010, I lost my job of 30+ years. So it was a pretty down period of my life, I thought the end was near. Though things are far from rosy for me now, after a couple of years, and seeing that I'm still here, the audio disease relapsed just about 4.5 months ago and started forcing me to spend money again. LOL!!

Is my spending fiscally irresponsible? Absolutely. I am certifiably insane. What sane person would spend over $4000 on a preamp, and over $5000 more on cartridges and cables when they don't even have a job? It's like I'm a drunk (audiophile) in a liquor store (Audiogon)....I can't help myself. LOL!!

If I had a lick of sense, I'd just buy a used Marantz receiver and never visit Audiogon, Audio Asylum, US Audiomart or Audio Aficionado again.
Jmcgrogan2, I see no reason to think you lack good sense. One of the most influential experiences in my life was when at the age of 56 my father died of cancer. He had postponed many things until it was too late. I vowed to not do so. If you read many of my reviews, you can see I am often greatly impressed with innovative technologies. Of course buying the Nantais Lenco Reference is hardly innovative. Typically I have no thought of where I need improvement. The turntable, arm, cartridge case is perfect. I was very happy with the Bergmann and Ortofon A-90, until I heard the Lenco Classic and heard from others about the Ikeda IT-407 long tonearm and the 9TT and Kai cartridges. I must admit that I often totally dismiss some products that others have raved about, such as the Devialet amplifier. I heard it and lost interest. I also reject $100,000 turn tables, speakers, etc.

All I can say is that there is a thrill to realism in reproduced music. My greatest fear is hearing loss, but unlike my seven year younger brother, I have no problem whatsoever.

I'm glad that you are still kicking and listening.
@ jmcgrogan2, I agree with TBG, You Have good since!, As A matter of fact, you are one of the smartest people I know of High-end Audio!, good since? I believe so!, I also agree about audiogon being compaired to the context of a liquer store!, these threads and great deals, well, as you said, very addictive!,On a personnal note,I am supprised you sharred your health and job with me!, you make me feel closer as friend to you!,LOL!,shooo!, don't tell nobody!,, As far as TBG, that man is wise!, damn, look how long he has been doing this hobby!, RESPECT!, thats what I have for that gentleman!,,, cheers!
Audiolabyrinth, it is the teacher in me that is talking. It is sense not since. It is shared not sharred. It is don't tell anybody not nobody. Nevertheless, I like the spirit of your posting.
Thanks fellows, I really do enjoy the camaraderie that I feel with members of these forums. Cheers!!
@ Grey9hound,, Do 200 hrs on them Tara speaker cables for break-in, then tell me what your impresions are!,Let me know when you get them 2 cds, listen to them in their entirety!, I believe you will like the both of them!, cheers!
Well.
Since they are not brand new , i would not think it would take 200 hours . They are already sounding really good .
Compared to the Q10s they are quieter. The sound is fuller and more fleshy on the bass and mid -bass. the top end is still really good with not a hint of glare or brightness.
I noticed myself listening to a lot of Cds that i would not listen to much with the Q10s.
Also, because of the lack of Glare and how quiet they are , I found myself turning up the volume more.
Rock music is especially good with these cables. Whereas with the Q10s , depending on the recording it could sound a little harsh. Not with theses Air 1s !!!
Everything sounds good with these speaker cables .
I AM IMPRESSED!!!
@ Grey9hound, Your cables will sound to their fullest potential with 200 hundred hours, If they were new, you would be looking at over 300 hours, I know this cause I break Taras in quite often!, like the cables I am not useing, I give them a spin, 150 to 200 hours they sound more relaxed and all the bass and the rest of the sound is there, most brands burn-in different lengths of time,I may not can tell you about other brands, I can defiantly tell you about Taralabs!,,, I am very Happy for you Dennis that you are impressed with the Air 1 cables already,, cool!, congrats!, Happy listening!
Hey Dennis I knew you would really like the Air 1 speaker cable man!! Awesome stuff I say! Everyday I come home from work and jam this stereo.

Even with fully broken in used cable, it took 200 hours for mine to really sound their best. I think maybe the cable just has to settle in with your own combination of gear. I don't really understand it, but Audiolab knows where I am coming from.

Have enjoyed every post with you guys, cheers! Mouthful of Miller and a roomful of good sound!!
John, I just studied up some more on our thread here. John, here's to you getting back on your isolation feet buddy....:) It's obvious that you are very well liked here on the forum and I must say I think you are real asset to us all. Thanks for all the good news, well informed suggestions, superlative sense of humor, and for always keeping it real. I sure am glad you are still here man.
I gotta tell you guys exactly what started this extremely strong ongoing passion for audio gear that I have so wholeheartedly embraced!

"IT" was a nice, clean Marantz 2270 that I picked up used in the early 90's. I loved it so much! More than my 280zx, more than my FJ-40 Landcruiser, and more than my girlfriend at the time too! LOL It sounded so damn nice(just "a bit" on the warm musical side of course, hehe). It changed my life. Music sounded better thru the 2270 than anything else I had heard. I had some Kimber 4PR hooked up to a pair of Large Advent loudspeakers with beautiful beveled walnut veneered cabinets. The Marantz and the Advents were both as old as I was. It did not matter to me because newer equipment in my price range at that time didn't sound half as good as that combo. I'll never forget that excitement. I think that is what keeps me going with this expensive hobby. It really is such a thrill to hear great music presented with such grace and beauty!!!

I have obviously bettered the old Marantz by a good margin with the gear I have now, but not by enormous leaps and bounds. Sometimes I wonder how much $$ I would have in the bank if I would have just kept the 2270 and Advents? LOL! Hey, do you think Tara Labs would re-terminate my Air 1 speaker cable with some straight pin connectors??? LOL!
@ waxwaves, A mouth full of miller, you love high-end audio better than the girl friend at the time, better than all your auto mobiles!, Man, you are a nut!I litterly laughed out of my chair!, hey, try to convince grey9hound the air1 does get better with 150 to 200 hours of time!, I had to rebreak-in my zero gold I/c and omega gold, No, kidding!,200 hrs!, sounds off the chain now!, I am spoiled for life now!, the main problem with that waxwaves is, when I hear another very exspensive high-end system, they sound broken to me, badly!, oh well!, A cheers of budice to waxwaves!

Thank you very much Waxwaves! You sir, are a gentleman and a scholar. I appreciate all of your comments, thank you, and keep them coming.

I liked your next post too, about what got you started in this insanity. For me it was discovering Legacy Audio speakers back in the mid 80's. Back then, Bill Duddleston was building them out of his garage, and I stumbled upon them in a small fine print ad in the back of Audio magazine. They sent me literature about all sorts of gear I had never heard of before, Vandersteen, Martin Logan, etc. Their literature also mentioned some magazines that I had never heard of before, Stereophile and TAS. Well I bought me a pair of them there Legacy speakers and subscribed to Stereophile and TAS and have been off to Oz ever since. LOL!!

I stuck with Legacy for about 12 years, buying 3 different models, before moving on to other speakers. I felt that Legacy's quality went downhill as they became more and more popular. I'm sure this is a common occurrence in the industry. Advertising and marketing ain't free, that money has to come from somewhere, and usually it comes out of the product
@ jmcgrogan2, I used to subscribe to the same magazines!, I loved them!, Thinking about doing it again!, I have not had one of those mags since 2001!, I miss them badly!, cheers!
