Infinity kappa 7.1 upgrade help!

Hello guys, I’m new to audio in general and recently got a pair of infinity kappas 7.1 speakers off a friend in really great condition everything original. I’m driving them now with a B&k AVR 507 set to stereo 2 channels and they sound really good! But I feel that the midrange driver lack clarity and detail in comparison with the woofer and tweeter that sound amazing in my opinion. Have anyone ever replaced these midranges with another type of speaker for better performance? I don’t care if I have to make a bigger hole to add a bigger midrange speaker or upgrade the crossovers, I just want the midrange to be more defined and clear. I know that the midrange is a Polydome 3” 4 ohms 75 watts rms. #902-5793.

Don't even consider doing such a thing. They were designed as they are and must be used with those drivers. Consider rebuilding the crossovers. That might be the issue. You might also consider rewiring them.
Most likely the polydome midrange has degraded.  Your best avenue is to have it rebuilt, as they are very good sounding speakers when working properly.  Millersound offers a rebuild service.

Hi, thanks for the info and help! Both polydome look quite yellowish maybe you’re right. My friend purchased them back in 1993 and didn’t use them for the past 8 years.
