I've heard these a few times - each time over tubes. Not a bad sounding speaker at all mind you, but sound-wise not quite up to par with the Response.
Yes, they are deliberately fashioned after the Response. Folks here in Hong Kong refer to them as "OEM 1SCs". One should note that the Jazzboy sells at a considerable discount to the 1SC, so, generally speaking, this is to be expected.
Not sure how low powered your amps are; however, if the room / space is small and you'll not be doing much headbangin', I think you should be fine.
