Hunt for new floor standers

Holy Shelter-in-Place! It's been a while since I've checked this thread. I thought I'd add some info on what I've been looking at these past few weeks. Any thoughts on the Monitor Audio Silver 500's? These are in their 6G and consistently get great reviews...even back to the 4G models. Comparisons to Focal, B&W and ML?

IMO, the new Silver series was not a big improvement over the outgoing Silvers. These brands sort of play leap-frog, and the B&W 7 series has taken the lead over MA. I'd say the same for Paradigm'd Prestige line which sounded excellent in my recent audition, possibly even overtaking the B&Ws.

As for the Martin Logan Motion series, it's still competitive and I consider them a killer value at their closeout prices.

With adherence to the shelter in place rule, it's impossible to audition anything, even if my area were riddled with good hifi shops- which  it  isn't. I'm sure others share my dilemma of being in the market and not able to audition. So I'm relying on opinions of reviewers and owners to help me make a decision. I've no idea how long this crisis will continue and in the scheme of things, new audio equipment is pretty low on the non essential list of things. Well...kinda. And you guys have been very helpful. I've talked with a couple of Fyne dealers and in reading about  them, the 502's look like a promising candidate. Anyone here have any  knowledge of them? How they might compare with Tannoy's XT8F's or Monitor Audio's Silver 300's?

I recently bought a pair of Fyne Audio F501s and I'm shocked by how good they sound for a mere $1800. Mine are in a small-ish treated and dedicated room and powered by a pair of Schiit Aegirs. Plenty of out put and loads of bass. The latter I calmed down with the help of a DSPeaker Anti-Mode 2.0 in my application. 

I love my Dali Mentor 6 floorstanders and I’m amazed that you can get them used for well less that $2K. Lots of bass, detailed but not shrill at all. The newer Rubicon 6s are one step closer to the Epicon series that first got me interested in Dali. You can find used Rubicon 6s for around $2.5K. 

I think the Suncoast Audio dealer now sells the Fyne brand.  Recent reviews of the smaller ones (300 series) have been very positive, and they don't seem too expensive.  Might be worth a listen.

The best bbass I ever got from a floorstanding speaker was the kef R107/2 I sold for $1000 last year including the kube. I needed the space.
Usher makes a really good product managing to be musical, easy to drive and transparent. I also had a pair of revel f52's I sold for $2k that had I had the proper amplification I may have kept... the tweeter in that speaker seemed a bit cheap. I've owned like 5 different pair of kef's and the higher up the food chain the worse they sound with average components. My q5 sounded better than my r105/3 when connected to my ht receiver. something to consider.

Thanks to everyone who spent the time to respond to my post. After being without speakers for 2 months and looking at a long self-imposed stay at home protocol, I pulled the trigger and bought a pair of Monitor Silver 500's. I'm sure I'll be happy with them. I learned a lot about the current speaker market and how much it has changed since the last  time I was looking. The choices are astounding and once I began the search process, I fell into a rabbit hole of details. There are a lot of well received choices out there these days. In the end I chose the Monitors because I was hard pressed to find anything really bad about them and they  are said to have good bass response which was a criterium for me. This was the first time I bought audio equipment without an audition; in part to my location but more directly because of the COVID19 pandemic with related closures of non essential businesses and the shelter in place protocol. I'll come back here with a review of my initial response to them. To all, thanks again.

Anyhow, you’ll probably love the Monitors!  Really cool speakers.  Well built, nice drivers (bolted to the back of the cab, which is cool / unique), sound nice, and look great.  I don’t see how you won’t be pleased :-) I loved my Gold 50’s!

They should sound great with your front end, which is very nice by the way( don’t sell that amp!).

b_limo- Thanks for the input. I narrowed the field down to the Monitors, Tannoy xt8f and the Fyne 502. The list could have gone on but I had to make a decision. It was frustrating not being able to audition any of the many choices everyone suggested. Hearing from Monitor owners such as yourself gives me additional peace of mind in advance of their arrival.
