how to connect Vandersteen 2Wq to integrated amp

I have the Musical Fidelity A3 Integrated and Dynaudio Contour 1.3SE. I would like to add to the system the Vandersteen 2WQ Sub, by profiting of the preamplifier autput of my MF A3. However, the crossover of 2WQ is divided into separate low pass and high pass sections. The high pass section should be inserted into the signal path between pre- and the main power section of the Amplifier. Could you advise me if it is possible and how to make this modification.

Aniwolfe,

I just purchased a 1501RC and a 2w Vandy sub. Could you describe in more detail how I would connect the sub?
I have been using a 2wq for about 3 1/2 years now with integrated amps,,,I first had a Audio Refinement and now I have a Jolida 1501RC. My dealer did some research and found the best way to do it(with approval from richard v) is just to connect the filter to the inputs of your int.amp. The disadvantage of using a integrated amp is that you have to use a filter for every input you use or you WILL blow the 2wq. My Audio Refinement is 20k and I found the 20k setting to sound the best. So went to my local dealer bought a 20k x-2 fillter for my cd input and that's it. It is really no worries and sounds really incredible. Let me know if you have any more questions.

I am not familiar with the rear panel configuration of your Musical Fidelity integrated amp, but if it has a pair of "preamp out" and "power amp in" jacks, then you can insert the crossover for the 2Wq between the preamp and the power amp.

If there is no such output/input loop for signal, then you will not be able to insert the 2Wq crossover, and will have to use a different subwoofer.
An easier solution in your case would be a REL sub, which does not divide the signal going to the mains, but instead simply adds in low bass. It hooks up to the speaker output terminals on your amp. It works extremely well. The 2Wq is a good sub but the RELs are very good as well.
