How much HD storage for transferring vinyl?

I am looking into transferring my vinyl to my computer then to my Sony HAP1ZES or external HD. How much HD storage does one album use? I'm thinking about picking up the Sony USB turntable to do this. Also, would changing the cartridge on this table improve sound quality? If so, which cartridge? Thanks for any input.

It depends on the sample and bit rate used.  At CD resolution a typical album is roughly 750Mb.  This will double with each doubling of sampling rate.
A Sony USB turntable will not deliver best sound for your archive, and yes the cartridge (and the entire analog playback system) will make a major difference.

When I started my current digital setup, I snagged a pair of Western Digital external USB connected 4 tb hard drives (save my AIFF files to one, copy to the other as a backup).  If my memory serves me, I think they were something like $130 each.
My rule-of-thumb is to always get more hard drive capacity, not less.
