Charlie Hansen of Ayre (the electronics firm) previously had helped to start up Avalon Acoustics (the speaker firm). I would say that he has continued his success story admirably, IMHO.

Mark Levinson, Bob Carver, Nelson Pass, Dan D'Agostino all started somewhere else and moved to start a new company.
Some of the guys at Infinity speakers left to start Genesis.
Dan D'Agostino has left Krell and rolled out with his own line of amps.
I'm sure there are others that I don't know about that are not mentioned above. Of the ones I've mentioned above, it seems Nelson Pass may have fared the best. Who are the success stories guys that have moved on?
