Hovland and Thor preamps

Anyone heard both the Hovland HP-100 and the Thor Audio TA-1000 who could comment on the differences in sound between these two units?

(own Ta1000 and Tpa30 watt monos'. Thor seems to have the magic the others don't have. They have great balance and don't add anything like other very popular brands. I your looking for excessive bass slam and screaching highs go solid state. If your looking for smooth natural sound go Thor Audio.
