One likelihood is that your volume pot is going bad, but the problem can also be electronic. Have it checked out; I doubt it will just go away.

In some cases, if you rapidly move the control up and down many many times, the problem will minimize at least temporarily. This action "cleans" the internals of the Pot a bit.
Obviously be careful, either turn the system off when doing it, or, make sure the volume does not exceed reasonable levels.
If the problem minimizes, the Pot is dirty..in most cases the hash will return soon.
When he says "many times" it make take 30-100 times.
What you are doing is wiping/wearing away oxidation that has formed on the contacts of the volume control.
I used to have that on my maintenance list along with turning all the push buttons off and on 30-100 times.
Contact points need to have the oxidation cleaned off and many times you cannot get inside to do it.
If that is your problem you will see/hear and immediate improvement and you will need to do the same thing regularly.
