High Fidelity Cables CT-1designed by Rick Schultz

In December 2011,I wrote that High Fidelity cables led by cable designer Rick Schultz was putting together a new cable. The cable came to market as CT-1.The CT-1 has FINALLY made it into my system!I had obtained a version of the prototype that Rick had been working on.It blew my previous reference Genesis by Virtual Dynamics.I thought I had finally found my end with this cable. This prototype delivered to my ears "Nirvana".Could I be at the end of my quest for the ultimate sound?
No. I received two pairs of CT-1 to replace my prototypes. They went into the system this past Friday.Unable to dedicate time until Sunday listening,I stole a few moments, ducking away from company with anticipation. My guest could tell even with the music set for"ambiance"something was intriguing and I was in for a treat!
The experience:
First off,CT-1 was very user friendly.Installation was simple;the cable is very nice and light. The female RCA fit beautifully unlike any I had found in other cable. It was secure and reliable. It seemed much thought was dedicated to developing a designer fit to an aesthetically stunning RCA connector.Install entailed a few wiggles to ensure what seemed like a compression fit on my RCA.
It was 2-3 hrs. for the 1st step of break in to be complete. At that point I had something different!Today, although they only have 10-12 hrs. on them,I can`t put into words how much my system has transformed.Believe me,I loved my prototypes.However....there is simply no comparision.
The clarity and sound is so natural.
The soundstage is like nothing I ever heard.Resoulution is breathtaking and inner detail is simply hard to believe possible.
The sound has transended and now it simply does not seem as thought I have speakers.
My system is musicians playing music.
I am told with time they will improve and I trust that as it was revealed with the prototypes.I wanted to share my thoughts with you that now.
Unequivocally,a testament to High Fidelity,as the name declares.
High Fidelity Cables for me,the last word on it,after 12 hours!
Truly Amazing

i will be getting a pair of the CT-1E speaker cables soon and will report on them as well..
Bigkidz...i agree totally with your assessment of the CT-1 interconnects.i just recently tried / bought a 1.5m CT-1 and am amazed at how much better, what i thought was great sound, my system's sound is. i will be trying a 1m CT-1 in the near future to see if what rick says about the synergy is true. the cable replaced one more then twice the cost.every aspect of the sonic presentation improved ....which is rare...especially when it costs less. they really are superb cables..
tbg....calloway here..i have had the CT-1s and now the CT-1E for a few months and they are the REAL DEAL...will be getting the speaker cables soon..Rick really has something with his new cables..
Jcaudio..i received a pair of the 'Ultimate' speaker cables yesterday and to say that they are amazing would be a giant understatement. i have never had a cable make such an improvement in my systems' sound like they do.they are stunning.the sound is now so holographic....the bass has so much weight to it and the soundstage is so focused and deep and wide.the presentation of every track i play is a new experience and my system was superb to start with.even my wife can't believe how much better the sound is and her ears are better then mine.i am told it will get even better over the next 2 weeks..i can't wait...every musical note is so perfectly clear and so tonally correct.symphonic music is just incredible...more later...
Tbg...they are...i still can't believe how holographic the soundstage is..you guys are more than welcome to come over and listen..apparently they will continue to improve for about a week or 2.just amazing.
Jcaudio..could not agree more. i am on day 6 and they are absolutely amazing. one of the designers of my amps was over tonight and he could not believe how superb the system sounds with the 'ultimates. he thinks these cables have made...next to his amps..the biggest change in my system's sound.i could not agree more..the weight of the music..the incredible decay of notes...the pinpoint focus ....the 3-d soundstage..everything is significantly improved...
..Laza...having had Valhalla cables in the past in my system i can comment. there really isn't a comparison.all cables are transparent...dynamic...detailed..etc...but those adjectives are relative..the HF CT-1U speaker cables are the best..in my system ..speaker cables i have ever heard.they are much better then the Valhalla's. i doubt they have many peers....ALTHOUGH..i haven't heard all cables. these just do everything you would want a cable to do ..better then any cable i have tried...which includes many of what are thought to be the best cables.as for 'texture, tonal color, meat on the bones'...they do that better then any i have tried too.
Tbg...you are correct ...BUT....don't listen to a complete 'Ultimate' system ...it's another level of improvement altogether...just stunning..
Knghifi...calloway here...i do not have a 'complete' HF 'Ultimate' cable loom at this point..i actually take posession of the CT-1U i/c tomorrow to go along with the CT-1U speaker cables..i currently use the CT-1E i/c..as i understand it Rick will be out soon with the pcs which i certainly will try...tomorrow will be a fun day with both 'Ultimate' cables in the system.
CT-1U ..speaker and i/c cables...: i have both in my system now having obtained the i/cs yesterday..DO NOT try these unless you can buy them..the combination IS THAT GOOD..!!..i am sure the i/cs will continue to improve over the coming 5-7 days which will make the enjoyment even better but, as for now, the sound is just spectacular.
5 days into the 'Ultimate-Ultimate' combo and things just get better.i had 2 audio friends over for dinner sunday night and peter said that the system sounded 'more vinyl then the best vinyl'...Muddy Waters is just scary...stay tuned...
Ddraudt..i have the CT-1U speaker cables and they are truly amazing...just wait..
..my CT-1U speaker cables are now fully broken in and their contribution to my system's sound is just amazing. the soundstage...detail...tonal correctness....blackness ...and the highs are all just incredible..if you want to upgrade..you won't be sorry..
Audiolabyrinth..you will not be disappointed... i have the CT-1U speaker cables and the CT-1E interconnects..they are amazing...good luck
update on the CT-1U..RCA.....i now have 4-5 days on the new CT-1Us. everything i said in the 8-4-13 as to what i am hearing has improved...just amazing..did not think the sound of the system with the CT-1Es could get this much better with Rick's new cables....can't wait until tonight's session..
there is a great new review of the HF cables...CT-1U..on dagogo.com by Jack Roberts...i agree with him totally.
Audiolabyrinth...does this mean you are going away from this post...which,after all,is about HF cables.....hopefully so.
Fplanner2000....i have a pair of the CT-1U interconnects coming in a day or so to replace the CT-1Es i currently have..can't wait.i tried them before but the difference in my system between the 'U' and the 'E' was not that great. Rick thinks there was an impedence issue with the 'U' cable at that time and wants me to try another.i can't wait..stay tuned...
just received the CT-1U interconnect friday and have listened now for about 3 hrs. the early improvements are more detail..clearer vocals..tighter and quicker bass...better depth and being able to hear deeper into the music...if these changes continue to improve the upgrade will be amazing....will give it about 1 month...so far ...very promising..
Petisboy 12003...can't say for sure but after i audition the CT-1U for a few weeksand and find it superior, i will be selling my CT-1E 1.5m RCA cable...
Tbg...thanks for the update...now i have something else to look forward to.......someday..!
Andrew...i agree with both Charles1dad and Fplanner200 . my HF interconnect from my Lumin Network Player to my SET monoblocks made a big improvement followed very closely by the speaker cables.they are amazing.
Rata3...i had the Echole Sigs, also, and ,IMO, the HF cables are much better...IN MY SYSTEM. nothing is 100%...the Echoles are very good but not as good in my system.that's why there is no 'best' cable.
Jafant...welcome to the forum...why don't you give us your experience with the HF cables..?..tell us a little something about your system ..
Ddraudt...i emailed Joel at '6 Moons' and thanked him for the great review.he mentioned that the HF cables were not necessarily for everyone due to their cost.but the review, and others like his , of cables and other audio gear that are relatively expensive, are important. on the used market these cables can be affordable as owners upgrade to higher levels.what is too expensive at ~ $2000 may be affordable at $1000 and give someone the HF experience that we, HF owners, know to be amazing.
great new review of the CT-1UR cables by Jack Roberts on 'Dagogo'....someday I will try them
totally agree. if you are not going to contribute to the conversation on Rick's cables start a post on your Tara cables.go back and take a look at the title of this post.
i do, but i didn't start with a 'full loom'.it wasn't a difficult decision to add the speaker cables after hearing how great the interconnects were.i started with the CT-1's and upgraded from there to the '1E's' and now the '1U's'. could not be happier....unless i had the '1UR's'..
Audiolabyrinth.....how many of the ceramic, brown topped isolators do you need..?..
...i will second what Fplanner says. i have looked for years for a cable that would allow my ears to finally allow me to stop looking.i have had many of what are considered the top of the cable world in my system. what Rick's cables bring...i have the Ct-1U versions...is a sound that when you hear it...you know your are finally there. i sold my Audiodharma cable cooker after hearing the HF cables because i knew i would not be trying any more. ( Rick uses the Audiodharma to cook his cables )...As Fplanner says...these cables are 'so special'..
Calvinj...thanks for your time and review...i don't know how the 2 stand from a price comparison but i can tell you that as you go up the HF chain the improvement is not linear.everything gets so much better. again..thanks for the comparison..
i will be trying one of Rick's new power cords this week.can't wait to compare it to my current pc on my Lumin player..
The HF UR Ultimate Reference powercord arrived yesterday afternoon and i had a chance to take an early listen last night for a couple of hrs. What struck me initially was how fast and tight the bass / transients are.It will need a couple of hundred hrs to fully open up. I can't wait to listen more tonight. It has been running all day.I have it connected to my Lumin Music Player.I have a $3K powercord on it currently that is great. The workmanship on the cable is superb. The container/case is great. One of the designers of my SET amps was over also and he could not believe the immediate improvement it made.STAY TUNED.
Update on the HF UR power cord:..now 3rd day listening. last night the sound was a little bright but this after only 2 hrs of listening the night before. today it has opened up considerably and the sound is rich and neutral..not bright at all.the transients are so fast. on PB's 'Constantinople' on her Modern Cool DSD album the bongos and cymbals and drum sticks are so much better identified with each and every strike...so clear and so real and 'right there'. PBs voice just hangs in the background with such realism.Pretty cool.soundstage has opened up and has become so 3-dimentional...stay tuned.
Norm..i agree completely. i have not heard the whole experience sound this good anywhere..
HF UR Powercord UPDATE..i have a little over 100 hrs on the UR to this point and it just continues to improve.there is a wonderful increase to the decay of notes within musical passages. vocals are more real..transients continue to be so tight and fast. there is more 3 dimension to the soundstage. it still amazes me that just when you think your system can't possibly get better...it does with the right component..
HF UR Powercord UPDATE:..listened for 2 hrs last night. the palpability of the music is just so amazing with this PC.The individual instruments now stand out so much better. The whole experience is so much more enjoyable. The transients continue to improve and are the best in any system i have ever heard. The music just seems to FLOAT in front of you...
Petieboy..i have had the Elrod Statement Gold and have auditioned the HF UR powercord and the difference is significant....in my system,.....much faster..better vocals..tighter bass / transient attack..better instrument seperation..just BETTER..
Ddraudt...sorry if i did not make that clear..the HF UR was clearly the better pc..again, i am sorry for the confusion..
Great review by Jack Roberst of Dagogo on the CT-1Utimate Reference Rhodium Plus Power cord...
Judyazblues....looking at your other posts on the various forums i see nothing but negative comments that put either someone or something down...what a sad life you must live. The reality is that your opinions, are, on this forum and the others you have posted on , totally irrelevant to the discussion at hand.
Yping...welcome to the discussion...i can second what Ddraudt said as i have tried a lot of the 'best' cables over the last 30 years and the HF cables are truly the best...by far..of all that i have tried.they are just so very musical..TRY THEM..
