Have you noticed that...

once you've obtained the stuff/item that you wanted, you no longer think/obsess about it/them?
I have an idea what I want for power condition(two different manufacturer's)and hope it will work, but I won't be satisfied until the units have been upgraded to current specs.
If I need all Cardas cabling, I'll go without music until I aquire that one piece and won't substitute anything else.

I think that once you have been in this hobby, for a number of years...you come to many conclusions, and are well past the mistakes, which drive all obsession.

At that point, component changes are more about fun.... a change in direction...."because I can"....and not, "because I have to"

Everyone goes through this till they either experience enough diminished returns or get comfortabke with what they have invested and educated themselves to a level of their own satifaction. Once there for whatever reason you start to focus on the music.
[That's because you are more interested in the sound of boxes and wires instead of music.]

LOL..Whats that saying... "Enjoy music...tolerate equipment."
Listening to music can be very enjoyable. However, technical interest in audio reproduction equipment is also an interesting hobby, and there is no reason not to enjoy both. To do the technical stuff properly you need to build, or at least modify, the equipment yourself...not just shell out big bucks for an endless series of purchases. Loudspeaker DIY is the best place to start.
too bad you're into equipment and not music listening...that's the real joy of this hobby.

LOL. Yes we are all guilty as charged!! Some more than others but all guilty of that for sure.

I'll go without music until I aquire that one piece and won't substitute anything else.

This is however quite extreme - "chicken or egg" what comes first...."music collection or equipment"
Have you ever noticed that once you find what you are looking for, you stop ooking for it? And that this thing you were looking for is ALWAYS in the last place you looked?

Funny how that is, isn't it?

That's because you are more interested in the sound of boxes and wires instead of music. Once your obsession is over will music continue to take a back seat? Keep in mind that the recordings are usually the weakest link. You gonna go without music until a superior format comes along?
