Harmon Kardon Turntable T60 Platter Matt and Strobe Weight question

I just purchased this turntable...sounds great but...the original matt was brittle and broke in half.
I want to replace matt with a vintage TRI PAD EON matt made by RND Corp....
Will this be a good alternative ?
ALSO....the turntable did not come with original record strobe weight ( which weighs 16 oz-1 lb.)
I have a KYOCERA record strobe weight. It weighs only 9.5 oz..
Will this work okay ?
Thanks

The answer is as long as they fit then yes. The way these things work is all about mass and vibration control. These things go together so that all you really can ever do is try and see. If you like it then it works and that is that.

Keep in mind though that mat thickness affects VTA, and even very small VTA changes can have a very big impact on sound. Unless you adjust for this then a lot of what you are hearing may in fact be due to VTA as much as anything else. Just something to keep in mind since your arm probably doesn't have very good (or any) VTA adjustment.
