HAPA--from hawaii...anyone know it?

Hey, I've got a compilation album with "Olinda Road" by Hapa who are from Hawaii. The piece that I have is a really beautiful guitar duet and I'd like to find the album (with the hopes that the others pieces are as good). Does anyone know anything about them? Any recommendations? Thanks, Todd

Yes, I know them. They have two albums one from about 1992 and another from about 98 (that's) just off the top of my head. I believe that song is from the more recent album. Hapa is basically a Hawaiian word for half-breed. Send me your address, and if I get inspired, all send you a CDR! Have a good day.

Go check out their entry on AMG - www.allmusic.com. Complete discography, etc. -Kirk
I know Hapa personally. I play in a Hawaiian music band myself, and we've opened up concerts for them here in the California Bay Area. Unfortunately, Hapa has just recently broken up, with both Barry and Keali'i going their separate ways. You can access their website at:

And for a shameless plug, you can access my band's website at:

Howzit, bruddahs? Hapa is good. Something else (da local kine) for you to check out is Israel Kamakawiwo'ole. His "Facing Future" is really good. This is a 1993 release that I just picked up on now. Good thread -- inspires me to make local style potatoe-mac salad and poki this weekend to go wit da Kalbi.
I'm obviously from the Dan Quail school of spelling... ;-)potatoe??? It's the flavor that counts, not the spelling. Hey, good fun -- made myself laugh.
Comeoniwannalayya is the only hawaiian word I know. I think it has something to do with big wave surfing. Thanks for the post. I think I'll try to pick up this CD based on your recommendation :~)
