Hafler DH-110 better than receiver preamp???

I am currently using an Integra DTR-7 as a pre-pro in a mid-fi system but had the chance to pick up an old Hafler DH-110 preamp on the cheap....my first separate preamp. I haven't received the preamp yet but was wondering if I should expect a noticable difference or maybe just a subtle difference?? Anyone want to venture an opinion??? Thanks!

The Hafler was a decent piece in it's time, but that was a long time ago. Generally speaking seperates do sound better, not necessarily because they are seperate, but because the designers put more effort into them than into a receiver.
I don't know how good your integra is, but a decent amp and pre-amp better sound better than what you have. It might be fun to experiment since you got the Hafler cheap!
I had a dh110/220(power amp) and also a pioneer elite vsx26 surround sound reciever. WHen compaired the hafler combo was cleaner with more mid responce and base punch a much better 2 channel system.
