GT Audio Works Refrence3 vs Arion Audio Apollo 12

Greetings,

Can anyone compare the GT Audio Works Refrence3 and the Arion Audio Apollo 12, from the previously held Capital Audiofest 2021 or other previously held outings and which do you prefer?

Thanks.
wacko

I am happy to offer a technical description about our Apollos and a general description of planar-ribbon speakers if you are interested. The sonic differences can be judged by others.

Yes I was in both rooms the GT Audio room was terrific especially Saturday, certainly one of the best sounding rooms at the show, I heard good things about the Apollo 12 and was looking forward to hearing them, maybe I caught them at a bad time but walked away unimpressed not close to the sound in the GT room.

Recommend to audition the GT. speakers before a purchase is made, I did and am having a pair built.

sps55, Congratulation on your new purchase. Greg is a good guy and makes a nice product.

This is such an interesting and diverse industry. There is truly something for everyone. It's a great time to be an audio component consumer. We feel privileged to be part of it.

We have exhibited in over 30 audio shows at this point. We have experienced everything from great praise to seeing people not connect with our system. The CAF show was no exception. We had several people and a couple of reviewers tell us the VPI-Arion room one of the top 3 to 5 best room at the show. A couple of people tracked me down to tell me directly our room was their favorite. We also had people who walked in just to look at the turntables and didn't engage with the system at all. I remember hearing one person saying "cool but not my thing". While show rumblings might give a clue, there is no substitute for an audition.

wacko, To not hijack this thread can I send you a PM describing the technical aspects of the Apollos and the general differences between Apollos and planar-ribbon designs? Any technical description of planar-ribbons is not about Greg's speakers. We also sell planar-ribbon speakers, under the Analysis Audio brand.

Mike

I’d be interested in receiving  any technical information, and pricing info too. PM is fine.
