Good DAC for Wadia 8 Transport

I recently acquired a Wadia 8 Transport in a trade.  It included an old MSB DAC.  The DAC sounds surprisingly good but it is pretty old.  I plan to spend more time with it but can't help myself from wanting to explore more modern options.  The Wadia transport is very solid and is currently connected to the DAC using a AES/EBU cable.  I would like to find a modern DAC with this type of input as I have a pretty nice cable already.  
Budget?  Preferably around $1K but can always be persuaded to go higher if the return is there.  

Seriously considering the Gustard X-20 Pro but want to hear other ideas.  

I am not in a hurry to decide this, if that matters at all.
