for what its worth

ive had my doubts about the bennifits of cable upgrades, but not being able to afford a major equiptment purchase, i decided to try to upgrade my middle of the road system consisting of mostly three year old class "b" products. i purchased on closeout from audioadvisor a ps audio prelude power cable for 50.00, and a set of audioquest blue racer interconnects again for 50.00. a set of signal cable ultra speaker cables for 130.00, and topped it off with a monster 3500 mkII power center from amazon for 100.00 .
all of these products replaced very cheap versions of the same thing. so what did my 330.00 bucks get me? i would say i did notice a difference, crisper cleaner sound mostly in the upper end.it gave me more detail, and while not overwhelming , im very pleased with the outcome.does it mean if i buy 1000.00 worth of cable's i will be that much more impressed? i dont know, but if you can do it on the cheap i would say that yes cables do indeed mske a system sound better.

I agree that the cables matter more as the equipment gets better. A really good cable could actually make less expensive gear sound worse, since it will uncover the cheaper gear's shortcomings.
