Experience with Madison Fielding Preamps?

Would someone please assist me on thoughts and experiences on the Madison Fielding series of vintage preamps., viz. the Madison Fielding 340 preamp (six 12AX7's). Could restoration bring upto par with today's standards? Thank you.
