Every Music Genre Has The Blues

Saw David Bromberg a couple nights ago, and he mentioned that every music genre in the US has a blues.  Got to thinking, he is right.  With the exception of maybe opera or some classical stuff, jazz, rock, country, bluegrass, and so on, all have blues songs.  Not the Willie Dixon blues but blues based on that genre.

I thought this was a pretty cool observation.

David's show had Jorma open for him and they played together.  Two old legends still showing their stuff.  David said he had three more shows and then he was retiring.  Hadn't seen him since 1978, and he was still having fun, as were we.

I thought David retired years ago from performing and is now running a violin/string instrument store. Where was the show? Did he perhaps play 'Send me to the 'lectric chair"?

Jorma and David together, you are very lucky. Haven't seen either of them for 20 years or more. I saw one show in the 70's where Harry Chapin open for David. Still have the ticket stub. Saw too many Jorma/Hot Tuna to remember them all.

Haven’t thought about David for a while. Still love his old song "Oh Sharon".

Wow I LOVE David Bromberg had some great bootlegs tapes of him I managed to lose. Great to know he's touring again.

@hotei

Glad to see other Bromberg fans. Great musician who just simply enjoyed playing music. I've been to Charleston, but sadly I'm about 3,000 miles away now, and it doesn't sound like he'll be coming out my way. 77 really? Where do the years go...

Thanks for the memories.
