Elrod Statement Silver vs Gold

Hi, I have a Silver Elrod Statement on loan and have some questions. First..how long does it take for the cable to settle in and "recharge". Also can anyone compare the Statement Gold to the Silver? I tried calling and emailing Elrod, but didn't hear back yet. Thanks in advance.

Hi,It takes about 5 days for the cord to find its stride if it has been shipped or unused for a time.
The Gold is a big step up from the Silver, not only in price but also in performance.

Just got my Statement Gold today. I know in my heart it still has some serious break in to go but ....man....even cold ouf of the box it is special. Cannot detect any harshness at all which is strange for a cable that isn't broken in yet.
All the praise on Audiogon is justified!!! One thing...the cable is HUGE...I knew this from photographs but seeing it "live" is something else. But..this doesn't bother me a bit, I even like the look of it.
And I have got plenty of room behind my set. Plenty of room to add 4 of them in the future...God and finances willing ;-)

If I were you I would just return the Elrod and forget about buying it. If the company does not consider it important to attend to the concerns of customers then it does not deserve their money. Such companies should be boycotted.
David Elrod always (!!!) answers my mails. Shipment and service are at exemplary. Something else must have happened.
Ultra-satisfied Elrod customer.

Wow...my experience with David Elrod over...I'm not sure, but about 10 years, has been nothing but positive and easy. In fact, over the course of 40 years as a very active audiophile, I'd say he is at or very close to the top, in terms of service and care about customer concerns.

I am very tempted to say that someone who publicly denigrates another on this site - without even a hint of specificity or explanation - should be ignored forever. But that would be dangerously close to acting in the same disrespectful and unthoughtful manner.

What I will say is that I "echo" Nirodha 35's comments about how good the Gold is. My experience has been every bit as positive with the sound these cords help reproduce.
My short experience with David Elrod was positive and he was quite responsive. Too bad he doesn't offer any trial period on his products like some other manufacturers since there is no dealer in my area of the world as I would love to try a pair of Gold PCs for my MX-Rs. Oh well...
Bar81,
there are dealers who are prepared to send you trial cables. Just check David Elrod's site. Good luck!
Yes, but you have to have 60% of the retail price cash ready to be on the list. The CableCo only requires 10%? or less I don't remember. I have a Silver Stmt and pretty happy with it. I am sure the Gold is be better. But I would rather spend the difference somewhere else to fine tune the system.
Hi,I am a Elrod dealer. My policy is on loaning out demos is you can demo any of Elrod cables (Power cords, speaker cables,Interconnects)even the new Diamond series. All I ask is for a 60-70% percent deposit on the cable till it is returned then you get a full refund minus my shipping costs. This is to cover my interests,If I sent cables to anyone that requested them without covering myself I would not be in buisness long. There is exceptions for customers I have had for a long time and local interest where I can deliver it personally and pick it up.
Elrod cables are the finest in Audio but with the performance comes a price tag that is still inexpensive for the performance they give.
