Electrostatic dangers?

A few times, I've gotten up from my couch to turn the volume control, and when I touched the knob it sparked. I recently connected my cable to my Monster power conditioner, and now there is ground-loop hum coming from my speakers. The only way to get rid of the hum is by using my 2 prong YBA diamond power cord. If I use this 2 prong power cord, and there's another electrostatic discharge occurs, will my amp be damaged? Did my three prong power cord save my integrated amp from static electricity?

Need an isolator for the coax cable, I think. the 3-prong cord will be the best choice, I'd put that back in, isolate the ground on the cable, and it should solve things. Floating AC ground is not recommended, despite the recommendations of some people here.
