Years ago I bought a Dynavector 10A the original Dyanvector high output MC cartridge. I recently set it up with my HK T60 and it sounds better than my newer Shure V15 V. However, it took very long time to break in about good 200 hours of playing. Now I would not use any thing else but the newer Dynavector HO MC. I think if you like the sound of it just go for it I would not care original or MK II.
This months Listener magazine has an article on just what your asking about! For what its worth I have a Dynavector 10X4 mk2 and think it sounds great.
I use the MKII (have not heard MKI) on an Origin Live RB250 arm with the Rega Planar 3 table. Works for me. Good tonal balance, smooth, good extension, top and bottom. Warmth is not my cup of tea, so I didn't go the Grado way. But perhaps mellower than Ortofon Hi-O MC in similar range? My impression, but not from A-B comparison.
