dual soundcards

i cannot make a dual soundcard configuration work.

i bought a second, cheap sc as well as my audigy 2 zs as i needed a game port for midi. when i try to use it, no midi input is recognised.

i was told i needed to use WDM drivers, which i was doing.

what am i doing wrong?
