Do you have any concern for the environment when keeping your equipment 24/7 ?

Right. Who in their right mind cannot tell the difference between "the world is about to end" and "extermination events of thousands of species"? Only a fool right, nonoise? Only a fool! LMFAO!
Only an idiot would think of thousands of species as all of them being large enough to eat, ride or mate with (you’ll soon be out of luck). Scientists, world wide, are describing largely insects small enough to at first go undetected, beneficial bacteria and the like. Reading a real science journal would be of help but then you’d lose your membership in the gang.

I’d say use your imagination but that would be asking too much.

And, why is it that every single time a naysayer thinks he's got one over on someone, there's the usual, patented, juvenile abbreviations, slights and joyous celebratory antics?

Talk about selective history. We’ve been through this before. The Articles of Confederation were too weak to enforce the laws and as a result, had no real power. They realized a centralized government was necessary so 7 years later, we had the Constitution, establishing such a government.
Read your history. At least, the basics.

One of the largest sections of the Constitution allows for taxes, levies, fees and duties as seen fit. Even the Greeks realized that when they experimented with democracy.

That led to a centralized currency. States could no longer conduct foreign policies on their own. We could now have a judicial branch and an executive to lead the country. We could now settle Revolutionary debts. We could now put down internal rebellions (which some here seem to welcome).

And there was no deflection, dude. One needn’t read between the lines to see that I rejected your argument re: tackling climate change w/out infringement on rights. How’s curbing pollution an infringement? I said I welcome it. Go back and read it again if you need to. My rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness are contingent on my being healthy and if someone feels that their rights are being stepped on because they want to dump toxins into my water, pump crap for me to breath, despoil the lands my food comes from and I say to my government no, don’t let them do it, then too bad for them.

As for Pepe,
Libertarians are nothing more than Republicans who want to smoke pot and get laid. They believe in kingdom rather than democracy. The rich can pollute all they want as we citizens have no right to collectively get together and form a government. That’s not America.

What you two need to do is stop spending so much time here as there’s still many Russian bots to manage and retweet, as well as the remaining Confederate monuments that need to be guarded.

Oh, you're being political and are too cute by half by proclaiming you're just presenting the facts.

C'mon, Frank. Your sources have always been suspect. Take a look at Judicial Watch's rating: https://mediabiasfactcheck.com/judicial-watch/
They are the nuts that hold the wing nuts in place.

That's the trouble with practically, if not all, of the links provided by the naysayers here. They aren't accredited or recognized. There's no fact checking, which is normal when it's propaganda and financed by the ultra wealthy, right wing, fat cats and special interests. It's red meat for the masses who need to hear what they want to hear. They don't want mommy or daddy to keep them in line anymore.

Before the internet, you'd find these crack pots operating out in the desert, in an old Airstream, and broadcasting over UHF.

One look at the 1 star reviews of "Free to Choose" at amazon are a must read.

One, great, contradiction that Friedman states is that the reason we had the Great Depression was due to the failure of the government to come to the aid of the banks (due to racist reasons). And yet, his view of government intervention into anything economic is misguided, and not to be done, as the "free" market will always win out. Get it?

Were you guys all for Steven Moore and Herman Cain to be seated on the Fed Board?

@millercarbon02,
It's like whenever I say something, your IQ suddenly drops and anything of note goes right over your head or is instantly dismissed, only to have you challenge to say/do what I just did. You're incredible, and that's in a bad way. You need a deep cleanse and a 12 step program to get off that Kruel Aid your imbibing.

@oregonpapa
Your premise stinks. "Infringing on the liberties of people" is such an obvious red herring if there ever was one: designed to go off on silly tangents and talk around the subject.

By the way, as for The Daily Wire: https://mediabiasfactcheck.com/the-daily-wire/  If such sources give you pleasure, then who am I to pop your bubble. Feel free to continue swimming in the muck.

Our country was founded on the concept of government, but, you know that already. Your "libertarian" views don't exist anywhere on earth, except maybe Somalia. It's like Austrian Economics: it's a pipe dream for those who don't believe in community, is not practiced anywhere, and only serves to be used as some kind of academic argument for those with nothing else to use.

Along with government, one of the founding principles are the commons.
It goes back to the Magna Carta and the Charter of the Forests. Us commoners are constantly having our rights and liberties stepped on, stolen and usurped by the elites, who cry foul whenever regulations and laws are enacted to stop them from screwing us over. So please, save that for the kids you preach to.

You've really got it all backwards. My liberty grows as more laws and regulations are put to work to keep the greedy elites from taking my ability to enjoy and thrive in this country.

RealClearPolitics and their political leanings influence and negate what most would consider objective reporting: https://mediabiasfactcheck.com/real-clear-politics/
The last sentence of the article says it all. It's a commentary piece and not reporting, as we know it.

Well, when you thing about it, the patients do recycle it.

And yes, I loved Laurel and Hardy long before the antics of the Three Stooges and let's not forget the Marx Brothers. Classics, all.

All the best,Nonoise
Who do I think controls the government?
Oligarchs. Two independent studies done by two universities came to the same conclusion: if you make less than $150K, you have zero influence on any political considerations that affect your lives.

We presently have a semblance of democracy which will soon be a quaint notion, and the stuff of fantasy, for the young, and yearning, for the old.

And let's not blame corporations and financial institutions - they only exist and operate the way they do because we support them.
What do you mean by "we", kimosabe?

No one I know, in their right mind, supports them as they're presently constituted. Now, if we could turn back the clock to how corporations were constituted (back in our founding days) with the charters they were mandated to operate under (they could do no harm to the community, they were subject to annual review, they could be financially held personally accountable as there was the corporate death penalty to consider), then one can say we "supported" them. Same goes for banks.

I came across this at an auto site concerning the recycling of EV batteries and it appears there is a solution:https://www.autoblog.com/2019/05/10/volkswagen-ev-battery-reuse-recycling-official/
If more than one company gets involved on the scale the VW is committing to, it won't be a problem.

All the best,

That was one big scam ran by VW and it blew up in their faces. Now Porsche is going through the same thing, but not on as large a scale.
A quick look shows Jeep, Nissan, Renault, and Mercedes doing the same thing.
Just to catch up some, I went and looked up Marx, to refresh what I know (admittedly, the wrong things): https://www.britannica.com/biography/Karl-Marx

He was quite the complicated man and not what is usually purported.

I think this quote from Marx (Groucho) pretty much sums this up:

Politics is the art of looking for trouble, finding it everywhere, diagnosing it incorrectly and applying the wrong remedies.
ologies and isms....Peel back the veneer and you'll find just ordinary, run of the mill oligarchs, in one form or another. Don't get caught up in the textbook definition of things. "Communist" Russia is just a name for a cabal of gangsters, mafia and international criminals.

Same goes for "Communist" China, "Parliamentary" England, or "Democratic" America. And those "Socialist" Nordic countries. Also, don't conflate capitalism with any form of government as they all use capitalism in one form or another. It's not just our baliwick. Trust me, we don't have bragging rights as other countries practice better forms of it.

All the best,
Nonoise
If you want to end socialism in America, start with eliminating the Veterans Administration. Then, our armies, police forces, fire departments, city halls, all major league sports teams, any unions, insurance companies, political parties, etc. They're all examples of socialism.

We run all manner of socialist policies in this country and like capitalism, it's just a matter of how far do you want to go. The Commons are written into our Constitution and that's a form of socialism. We operate under a social contract. That's not socialism in a Marxian way but a form of it. It's inevitable.

Socialism doesn't need to lead to communism, unless you fall for the hype. It's the new boogeyman, replacing the commies under our bed. If anything, the right wing in this country are practically bedfellows with the commies, copying and emulating them, as they're constituted in their present form, which isn't really communism anymore, but more like criminally unregulated capitalism.

See how messy it gets when you stick to labels?

All the best,

Lots of "in the bubble" thinking going on around here.

Who here actually thinks capitalism is a form of government?
Capitalism is an economic system. In it the government plays a secondary role. People and companies make most of the decisions, and own most of the property. ... The means of production are largely or entirely privately owned (by individuals or companies) and operated for profit.
and,
Democratic capitalism, also known as capitalist democracy, is a political, economic and social ideology that involves the combination of a liberal democraticpolitical system with a capitalist economic system.
Which do you think we operate under and which do you think would turn it’s back on it’s people for a nickel?

Hint: we started out as the second and are ending up as the first, and it’s not what our founding fathers envisioned. Again, stop falling for labels.

So, good of the many outweighs good of the one. Right ? Wrong.
Good of the one outweighs good of the many. Right ? Wrong.
How do we go about this conundrum ?
I think it can only be decided on case by case basis.

Looking at it from a distance makes it academic and prone to finding justifications to suit one’s point of view. Approach any discussion of sacrifice, when it's not your own, with caution.

Mauna Loa Observatory measured 415ppm recently and it’s never been that high for 800,000 years. Sea levels back then were 5-40 meters higher than they are today.

Temperature fluctuations measured no more than +/- .1 degree Celsius every 1 thousand to 10 thousand years and we’re seeing a rise of more than that every 10 years going back several decades.

Can’t wait. Literally, I can’t wait.

That 800,000 year record showing that CO2 levels were basically constant until we showed up may be a bit conservative because ice core samples only go so far back. Some data indicates it could be as long as 3,000,000 years that CO2 concentrations were somewhat stable until we upped the ante:

Or, you can go here: https://talktotransformer.com/

It's a new AI program that will complete your thoughts, ideas and expressions using a built in algorithm. Here's how it dealt with my input (the first sentence is mine, the rest is the computer):

A functioning democracy requires vigilance and discipline. It protects citizens against a growing number of abuses of power, from abuse of the police to intimidation of activists and opponents."

However, while the new law is a step in the right direction, it still does not address many pressing issues. For example, we believe that the bill's emphasis on transparency, the freedom of the media, the separation of powers and accountability and transparency measures are important, but do not provide the answers to the most pressing problem facing the nation: how will Pakistan be able to create a functioning democracy when citizens cannot be assured of a fair and balanced election? In addition to taking steps to ensure a smooth parliamentary procedure, we hope that these new laws will enable greater transparency in governance as they provide a framework in which democratic processes can be established and sustained in time. We also urge the government to enact the same laws to further improve parliamentary democratic legitimacy, ensuring transparency and accountability in parliamentary politics, public interest organizations and the media and more effectively protecting human rights and freedom of expression.

Pepe, did someone comment on the economy again and say, "Thank you Obama"?

You do know that the last budget passed by an outgoing president is done about 2 months before he leaves office, right? So for the next year, it's all due to what the previous president did, unless the new one screws up in a major way, which he is doing.

All the best,

Hey Pepe,
It was you who said it was only a few months into Trump's presidency that things started to turn around, making it painfully easy to point out the huge, glaring flaw in your unsolicited tirade.

I never mentioned anything past the first year. Why don't you go ask some farmers how they're faring. Or ask anyone who's tax returns averaged 11% less than what they used to get. Or the taxpayers who couldn't take the usual SALT deductions. Or the new 25% tax on imports that everyone is now going to pay, in one form or another, since companies can't absorb it all themselves.

Could it be that with the unfunded $1.5 trillion tax break on the wealthy, he's got to have some fools pay for it?

The goof is a kid with an ant farm who's used to getting his way all his life, being bailed out by his dad to the tune of half a billion dollars. The guy's got the reverse Midas Touch and you love him? Have some more Cruel-Aid.
