Jimateo the wife and my self recently built a lp shelf you can check a picture of it in my system link. We made it big enough to hold a lot of lps. It came out really well. Good luck with your shelf.
I've gone through multiple storage solutions over the years, starting with a home made (from 1x12 pine) unit I built in college to a cherry wall unit. I just installed the Ikea Expedit shelves and think they're the best. What I like about them is they are compartmentalized in 12" cubes so the LPs don't bind up as they do in a longer shelf. They are attractive, easy to assemble, and the price can't be beat.

I installed two of These . I did make one mod - added a plinth with 4" legs to get the bottom shelf off the floor. I will probably be adding a stop to each shelf too to prevent the lps from sliding back (since the shelves are 15" deep and have no back they become uneven.
Dude,
Do yourself a favor and get the Ikea Expidit- cheap, look great, lots easier than rolling your own, and they are perfect LP shelves. Don't tell Ikea.
Get an IKEA Expidit for storing your LPs away for good. I have one and it's difficult to find anything and view them. Plus, the shipping almost doubled the price!

I have 3 of these lpbin.com holding 1500 LPs
