different wood for a DIY isolation platform

I am considering a Brazilian Cherry (jotoba) Isolation platform. It is much heavier, denser than hard maple. Has anyone used different material other than maple and had good/great results? thanks...

Wood adds tone because it resonates. What tone sounds right is system dependent.

Jatoba is beautiful wood. I have 2" Maple platforms I made as well as multiple blocks 2 x 2 x 1 that I have been experimenting with in place of the feet on my amp, tuner and cdp. My thought was to emulate the myrtle wood blocks Cardas sells. I have used Jatoba, Ebony, Wenge, Maple, and Bocote.

I find the Jotoba and maple to be similar, and the best sounding (in my system) I am currently using Jatoba blocks under my amp with no platforms to good effect.

I am working on a design for a new amp platform made of multiple pieces 1-1/2" hexagonal Maple blocks 2" long glued together vertically, like a honeycomb. It will be about 20" in diameter, round, and have 3/4" x 2" Jatoba inlayed in a "V" through it.
I used Pennsylvania slate with good results. It's quite a bit denser and heavier than maple.
