It took me about 3 years to get them all, but I just purchased the last two Europe 72 shows. That was the Grateful Dead at their finest hour. 1977 was also another notable year as I think Keith Godchaux added a nice soft touch on the piano and kept the music simple and true to the roots.......I have all of the Dicks Picks and some are better than others and No#25 stands out for me.......so far I have all of Dave's Pick's and actually waiting for No#17 to be delivered today. I have not found them as good as the shows picked for Dicks Picks....in my opinion,

The Dead also had some highlights in the eighties with Bret Mydland who was very good ......but they seemed to have moved away from the country / blue roots that I personally enjoyed. The band got even moved heavily involved with different drugs of choice from cocaine to heroin which unfortunately made Jerry just an average guitar player.......he got sloppy and lazy at live shows which I was there for a bunch and can attest to.

There are a couple of box sets for the 90-91 tour and one is sold out and they are good at best. You can totally dismiss the Vince Welnick era of  Dead. That was a very dad time and was the ultimately the end of that band.

Hello Jafant - I received my 78 Red Rocks box set and I must say that I was not impressed. You will note that I have and can say with conviction every disc / box set and current subscriptions issued for and by the Grateful Dead .....and this box set is NOT one of my favorites. The Europe 72 to give you a reference point is still my favorite as that was the Grateful Dead. They must have doing massive amounts of cocaine at these shows and at that time I do believe they were as the music's tempo is totally jacked up.....each song ends on the same type of crescendo....and Donna ought to have been shot for ruining  each song with her off key singing ...no screaming on this tour.  Bobby was not that far behind.  Naaaw......not my favorite and the songs and set list were very predictable. I saw them in 78 .....but don't remember .
…….good morning guys. I bought that Pacific North West Tour Box Set that was just offered; when is that going to be shipped ?  Also, and I do not recall this being discussed, that was the Wall of Sound Tour  - so that music will reflect that sound. Let me know and thanks.
….yes. ; '' So Many Roads '' came out soon after Jerry died. Really good and jazzy ; Shakedown Street and a nice Liberty are on that set. Ohh yeahh ...a good ; Lazy River Road. Good pick up there.
JRIGGY - I AM NOT KIDDING YOU - WOW !!!! It is 94 degrees here in Central New York which we do not see very often …. just pulled that one out and I have the fist disc playing and making a cocktail for my back dec relaxation mode......I have not listened to that one in a awhile and just grabbed it. Just WOW jrriggy on that mind melt

I just played, but only the fist two disc's, of the '' new '' Dave's Picks #27 .show ..wow does that one stink !. I have the all of the ; Dick's Picks, On the Road, and Dave's Pick's offerings, but this one by far is the absolute worst one. The sound quality stinks and I gave up after the second disc.....I hope that we are not getting to the bottom , but I went to a lot of shows that I thought they were at least good, that have not made it to any of these productions so hoping that we still have some good shows left in the can.

Ohhhh Happy Birthday Jerry !

Ohhh

I will be receiving my Pacific Northwest box tomorrow and I have heard that the Portland show is really good.
