For a theater in a box it isn't bad. Blows away anything Bose has. Also, it is reliable.
He may have more options of quality if he wants to get a good custom company over to look at fishing wires and cutting in good in wall speakers from Paradigm, B & W, or A/D/S. or mounting surface mounted speakers.
That is what I do for a living and am always solving lifestyle related issues when people don't want to compromise a lot of quality.
